Rape is not about sex, it is about domination and power.
Zapiro has hit the nail squarely on the head, even the illiterate will understand it is about the abuse of power.

It feels a bit like saying that women in mini-skirts are "asking for it."
    mmmm - Aren't they?
Our justice system is also on trial here and I think they have been wearing a mini skirt for a long time. Lampooning them in this way just shows the serious nature of the subject. Notice justice is lying on its side depicting that there is a fight back from this source and hopefully we can see the legal profession taking a proper stance. I also think that as this situation develops, justice may be forced into a guilty verdict just to keep their flag flying high. Anything else will show a roll over and the legal system will take a huge credibility knock.

In the interests of presenting alternative views...
The South African Democratic Teachers' Union (Sadtu) said that using gang rape to get across a political point trivialised the crime of rape and was barbaric.

"It is also grossly unfair to the individuals depicted in the cartoon and to the organisations they represent, which are striving to cope with a mounting political crisis which is not of their making.

"We therefore demand that the Human Rights Commission and the Public Protector immediately investigate this human rights violation by Zapiro with the object of securing a withdrawal."
    extract from IOL article here
"...a mounting political crisis which is not of their making?" Who put JZ in a position that turned this into a political crisis? Makes me wonder about the quality of our educators

The SAHRC is "watching developments," but are already comparing this to the outcry over Malema and Vavi's use of the word "kill" in support of Zuma.

All i can say......'If the shoe fits.......'
Wonder if it will be added to the list of law suits by Zuma against Zapiro?
Great cartoon, and the powers that be, really missed the point of this one.
