Listening to questions and answers, made me realise how far we have to go before any form of penalties can be enforced. It is a step in the right creating an Eskom deadline for registration (March 2026 ) but in reality I am curious to know how the awareness campaign is going, has anyone seen any form of awareness campaign by Eskom or any of the municipalities?

The fact that we waiting 3 months for a standard meter to be replaced and no indication as to when it will be replaced, makes me wonder how long it is going to take before 4 quadrant meters will be available.

What really concerns me is the responses to questions being asked about SSEG registrations.

What will happen to all the Voltronic/axpert and other non compliant devices already installed and operating for many years already?

Looking at social media groups, meetings, Q&A's, discussions with engineers about SSEG's is very concerning.

Eskom say they are only interested in NRS codes and the impact your SSEG has on their infrastructure and not SANS codes.

If we were talking about a 100 voltronic/axpert backups systems, we could just laugh them off, however we are taking hundreds of thousands of units installed on properties. I personally have a 2kw axpert inverter connected directly to my meter using a change over switch at the meter. I plug in my contractor generator in during the day to keep the lights on and charge the inverter batteries and plug in the inverter at night (when we have long grid failures, which happen a lot).

If they are illegal, then someone should ban the sales in SA.

I purchased my axpert unit from a reputable company which sells hundreds of thousands of them, if the unit is not NRS compliant how did they get away with selling them in SA and if it is illegal can I sue them?

By the way, how is the discussions between the ECA and the municipalities ? Anyone have any idea when the municipalities will be launching their awareness campaigns and dead line for registrations ?
