I caught a quick snippet this morning about our rights to service delivery.

It seems that government is on a drive to educate us about our rights in this regard. Geraldine was going on about housing and social grants, but I started thinking about a few other things.

For example, what is the acceptable turnaround time to get your Learner Driver Licence? My daughter has just applied and she can only get a booking for the test in 3 months time.

Or what about identity documents? How long is an acceptable turnaround time there? I've heard of people waiting 6 months.

Then there is standing in queues? What is an acceptable time to wait in a queue before you get served?

Hey! I'm as excited about getting a free house and a social grant as the next person, but how about some attention to some of the more fundamental service delivery items too.
