Lightbulb Migrate to Sage Online from Pastel Express

Our online courier company ICExpress is in the process of retiring our Pastel Accounting (which has been loyal to us for many years) and moving to Sage One cloud accounting.
Question is has anybody successfully migrated their data across, or is it just a matter of "take on balances" and keeping backups of the old Pastel system?

    Kind Regards

Yes, you can migrate your data to Sage One. Bear in mind that your "Current" Pastel Xpress database only holds your current year and last years transactions, which is what would be converted to Sage One. Your historical databases are not generally taken over, so you need to keep your backups of those on the Xpress system. If you want to move everything to the cloud, there is an option to pay for additional companies on Sage One. You could then convert your historical data to a separate online database and access it that way. You will need to pay for the historical conversions, and pay for the extra databases each month, so it isn't a recommended route to follow. Once your Xpress license has expired, it will revert to view only mode. You will still be able to access the data and print reports, if required.

    Hi Adrian

You can convert from Sage Pastel Partner or Xpress to Sage Business Cloud Accounting (previously called Sage One) seamlessly and for free by going to https://sage.cloudconvert.co.za/ The transactions are converted across - not just the balances. The current and prior year data is converted.

Settings and form designs are not converted across. If you would like us to assist with the conversion, let me know.

    Kind Regards

We tried this, and the conversion was an absolute mess. We reverted back to Xpress. If you going to do it, try the trial for 30 days and submit your data for conversion. Then go through everything a see if you are happy before commiting.

That's a good suggestion. I've converted over 60 clients and haven't had anything go wrong for me so far.
