    Kitchen remodel

    Hello,

I am looking to remodel my kitchen, attached is a rudimentary diagram of my kitchen layout apart from the fact that B and C are currently joined (L shaped kitchen). I do not really know where to start but my assumption is with electrical or plumbing. I plan on separating the L into B & C for an island and I am wondering what is within reason, bear in mind I am in an apartment and sandwiched between the ground unit and unit above so it is concrete slabs above and below. Electrical points for plugs/stove seem to come from below whereas lights above. D is where my fridge and microwave sit and I have no intention of placing anything there.

I am ambivalent towards replacing my hob for a simple dual zone 30cm induction hob (~15amps) should it negate having an isolator or allow me to draw power elsewhere.

First prize would be moving the hob (27.5amps - 6600w/240v - never sure if you divide by 220v or 240v or 230v) to C (new island) which I assume would mean chasing a channel for the isolator to move to the island. Then move the sink between the two plug points on B (not sure of the legality here, I would prefer to just extend and run the pipe from the existing connection without chasing into the wall because I am certain I would intersect the middle plug point. For reference it would still be equidistance to where the isolator/plug point sits currently just to the left as opposed to where it is currently on the right - same with the plug point on the right in the new position). I'd also like to have a plug point on the island but this is maybe a pipedream?

The oven is also rated ~15amps and when they replaced it a couple years back it came with a normal SA plug which they stripped and crimped electrical connectors too, assume the same as the old one, which begs the question can I opt to separate the over from the hob and just put a 3 pin on and make use of one of the existing plug points elsewhere?

Second place would be just moving the hob and oven to the island and just keeping the sink as is without the additional island plug point.

If all not feasible I will just keep all as is and replace the counter tops and cabinets, using existing connections and outlets.

Any recommendations to achieve my goals? Maybe I can pull from one of the other plug points if I move over to induction 2 burner or something along those lines?

Can I place the oven anywhere?

Any recommendations for a electrician that is COC certified in the area(Joburg, Randburg) to assist with above mentioned work(if possible)?

    Hi Chris_7
We can assist - my wife has a 12 year lecturing interior design background and we run a small 2-man specialist kitchen renovation business.
The design comes with challenges(concrete floor and ceiling, intersecting water pipes, re-locating appliances etc) but lets see what we can do.
