Anyone have a copy of BS7671 in Joburg/Germiston/east rand/west rand Area?

Long shot. Does anyone have a BS7671, latest edition, this side of the pond I could borrow for an exam.

Happy to pay in beer, meat or charitable donation or something.

I can do my 18th edition exam on line now and don't have my copy in S.A.

Running costs are getting out of hand this side and its always good to have a plan B.

    Cheers

    Hey man

I don't have it but you can get them on a subscription basis, Napit Direct i think has it but also the IET,

I have GN3 but not the new brown one and I saw in there you can subscribe and different tiers for things but maybe for your purpose if you can't win witb the book subscribe and then use it for a bit then cancel.

Later will look for the link and send

Who are you writing it through if I may ask ?
I may do mine later this year as well.

    Hi Dylboy

    Found these guys - https://lanteilearning.co.uk/course/...-only-virtual/

Going to do the SMSTS course as well, distance learning and again the exam is done remotely from the comfort of your own home.

Just want to get my JIB card again, I case an offer from that side comes up. I was electrcian, then approved electrician and then site technician grading (that was 12 years ago).

Spoke to my old apprentice a few weeks back. He finished his time a few months before I came to S.A. (typical apprentice, turned up drunk from the weekend on Monday, bit dopey, kept losing tools, crashed his car a lot(boy racer) etc.). 12 years later he's been working on data centres all over the UK and Ireland and is clearing 45000 (pounds) a year + food/travel and accomadation allowance and the other guys do plenty of overtime so they are coining it - I wouldn't mind some of that.

And this side... well with rising costs on fuel, food and materials. Its just not viable to have me + 1 electrcian + 1 assistant assistant kind of business anymore.

  4. Thanks given for this post:

That is great thank you ! Will check them out.

Hope it goes well for you and get the JIB!

Hahaha apprentice being dopey and now clears more than most people I know haha.

But yes I want to do the 18th as well online as easier than going there and once I have that will send my stuff to the UK something to get my qauls here to a JIB grading that side.
(The site eludes me now but will try find it later)

All prep as next year we may be heading over if goes well with the wife's work there. All her friends and family are there and none are UK ancestry hahah. Heck I have 2 friends groups here and the rest are there or Aus. And the one mater here has Is passport so he can jump ship when he wants and the other is trying to set up a business there white his boss. I reckon 5 years time all my mates are there or somewhere else.

Have a 9 month old and its up to us to set her up properly for the future.

Edit: the quals here to JIB website:

Electrical companies are closing at an alarming rate around here.

2 of my mates (both owned electrical companies) left a couple months ago, one got a job within a few weeks, starting salary 3500 pounds, with a company van and the boss man is renting him a flat cheap while he gets settled.

The drain is starting to show, especially with more specialised type jobs, machine repairs and fault finding. Fortunately I can do any thing from connecting a plug in a house to complete commercial or industrial installations and fault finding.

Just think the more people leave the more difficult it will be to find skilled sparkies, so earning R100K per month might become a reality sooner than you think. I know the cost of living is also going through the roof.
