    CoC for alternative power installation

Friend of mine had a generator installed and asked me for an opinion on the installation. The cross over switch and general installation were top notch.

My friend asked me if he needed a CoC: - he said the genset installer would give him a CoC for the installation.

I understand any alternative power installation forms part of the CoC for the entire installation - there isn't a CoC for the genset installation only?

Interested to see what he is given.

The only way forward for the installer is for him to verify his installation, PROVIDED he is satisfied that the the installation that he is adding to is compliant.
Now, how does one satisfy themselves that the existing installation is compliant?
The only way is to inspect it, surely.
And, if any faults are found on the existing installation, then they must be rectified.
If the installer now does the rectification on the existing installation then he takes responsibility for the entire installation and has to issue a full certificate.
    That's my take on this.

I had a request to install a generator and issue a COC the other day. I refused to do the installation as the generator was a V-0-V generator (most generators are of this configuration).

    LeeCatt I agree fully.
Thats why the CoC has a section for alternative power.
As it is I've spent 2 days resolving issues with this house and I am still not finished. Biggest time user was finding causes of IR failure.
So the installer would definitely not had a clear pass (if he inspected it).

    Thank you for your comment
