Can anybody advise me whether 30 year old circuit breakers are ok for a COC
Can anybody advise me whether 30 year old circuit breakers are ok for a COC
If the C/breakers are still in a workable condition and no visible damage and comply to the code, I see no reason to scrap them
With that said and not knowing the size of DB, supply and fault level you are referring to , double check and do not assume that they are working
We have come across old C/breakers in boards that when you switch to the off position , don't actually switch off all the phases so you need to check.
Also some spring type charged CB don't always operate correctly when switched off an on again and sometimes need to be serviced.
The amp rating and KA rating must be visible on the CB
6.6.1.3 Each item of electrical equipment used in a distribution board shall
comply with the requirements of clause 4.
4.2 Notices, labels and rating plates
Any notices, labels or rating plates that are required in terms of this part of
SANS 10142 shall be durable and not removable except by determined and
deliberate action. The inscriptions shall be legible and indelible. Details on the
topics given in column 2 of table 4.2 can be found in the relevant subclauses
in column 1 and the warning labels shall comply with SANS 1186-1.
Many thanks with my problem ,you saved me some money . Thanks Again
