    Heavy prepaid meter consumption

    Hi guys
Went to a 2 bed 2 bath townhouse today.
Still one of those old beige prepaid meters with the red lever at bottom.

Owner says he is going through about 35 units A DAY with geyser, pool off.

    It's absolutely chowing he's power.
    Anyone seen this issue before?

Meter has not been tampered or fiddled with.

I turned mcb off the units stayed the same. Only plugs and lights on it chows again.
    Could meter be faulty?
    Out of "calibration"?

What can I do for or suggest to this guy?
    Apply for a new meter?

I would install a check meter , even a 2nd hand one that has been stripped out from somewhere
It will give you a better idea
He might have an old fridge or freezer that is running all the time

Geyser thermostat faulty or set too high.

    Tumble drier

    Washing machine running all day

    aircons

put a recorder on the supply

    it could be anything.

For the record a standard house avg consumption is around 30 kwh per day
Comments are based on opinion...not always facts....that's why people use an alias.
