    Extension for company tax

How does one go about applying for an extension for company tax? The accountant/auditor team have taken extremely long to get this done, and I don't think it is going to be finished on time.

Do I have to go in to SARS? I couldn't find a form on their website.

According to my auditors, there is no extension this time around.

That is what I thought, but he has applied for an extension online (via efiling) for his customers which are registered under his tax practitioner login. Apparently this is only available to tax practitioners.

Perhaps the tax practitioners have prevailed here.

I was hopping up and down about the fact that we would incur penalties for a late return when the delay was our auditors getting around to do the audit! We notified them that we were ready for audit in April 2007. And they only did it towards the end of January 2008, despite my nudges from time to time. At the last moment they said it was under control... but I've heard no specifics yet.

There just aren't enough auditors in the country at the moment.

Something similar with me, but the fault lies with my accountant - he hasn't taken the docs I gave to him in June last year to the auditor yet
