    Council tariff increases

Did you know ... my council bill costs more than my bond every month ... that is a scary fact.

My water/electricity/rates is now officially higher than my bond

My water costs R1,6k a month and my electricity is about R2,5k per month = R4,1k - my bond is R12k

You must tell us your numbers - Are you are running a public swimming pool / EV charging station?

....or did you make a deal to settle your arrears in a couple of big payments!

So how do you know that you do not have an underground leak? Check your daily consumption and get alerts for leaks or bursts with a cost effective AUS-iot Monitor.
Water and electricity will become much more expensive as this is the soft target that the pirates of the Ain't No Consequences party is now targeting.
You cannot risk one drop of water going to waste anymore.

    Just received my new bill.

Don't suppose I've got anything to complain about.

Electricity is prepaid and we use about R300/month.

Because I talk a lot of BS at home , I pay R475 ex VAT for sewage, more than double my water consumption.
My rates are more than your municipal bill, and I do not have a a large house, and it is residential rates..

The govt. is bankrupt and are now looking for other avenues of stealing from the people.

Cape Town has levies on everything - they put fat levies on the water when there was a drought.....the levies still remain while the dams are overflowing...

Another trick that the fxxxkrs use when they need money is to increase the municipal valuations of the properties...contrary to what people believe - the increase in property value is only marginally related to the actual market - they use it as a way to force people to pay higher rates n taxes. This is easy money for them because if they claim your house is worth twice as much then you think you are scoring....no....you are getting screwed over on a month to month basis. There have been many court battles over this nonsense.

I don't have any bonds anymore. It would be losely related to your property value but my rates are around R1200 per month which includes water, sewerage, garbage etc. I'd guess my property market value would be somewhere around the R3 mil mark, not sure what the municipal value is but I think it's considerably lower than that. I buy R1k of electricity per month and put it in the ED but we don't use that much because I noticed the other day we've got over 2000 units on the display so I'll make a point of skipping a few months now.
