Have you ever wondered what is inside the white box ... and why you even need it.
If a strip light is rated at 230 volt ... why would you need a 230 V power supply ... because the strip lights are 230 VDC not AC ... now you know why you have to flip the pins if you connect to the opposite side.
A tip ... did you know there is an arrow on the strip light indicating the direction of flow ... you learn something everyday.
It got the better of me today ... I had deal with Mesmerize lighting today ... so instead of using my rubber mallet and the 50 mm steel plate ... I decided to use a 4 lb hammer and opened one of those little white power supplies ... man these little things are tough ... my entire workshop is scattered with pieces of plastic.
Inside the power supply is 1000V ... 4 amp bridge rectifier with a fuse on the DC side ... apparently one of these power supplies can feed 50 metres of 230 VDC strip light.
