Controll cable for float level switches

Hi could any one recommend which type of cable I can use from two float level switches in a JoJo tank to a pump a 100m away. Could use a 24v or 12v relay to switch the pump on.
    Thanks.

Forgot that it would need at least 6 cores.

Why would it need at least 6 cores?

Choice of cable type would depend on whether it's in sunlight, underground or above ground, indoor or outdoor etc etc. Need more info.

You can also install an old fashioned ball cock valve in the jojo tank Click image for larger version.

Then install a pressure switch and a small pressure tank at the pump Name: images3.jpg

That way no cabling needed at all.

Just remember the volt drop over the distance (100m) if you go 12 or 24 V

We generally use plain steel wire armoured cable (7 core ... I dont think you get a 6 core) which saves you installing conduits and digging deep trenches and the price of 2 cables.

However we dont use float switches ... we normally use omron level relays with S/S rods and 3 or 5 pin unit.

Andy ... in most cases we fit a low level cutout probe or float.

Thanks for the assistance guys, thinking of going the 7 core swa route as the customer already has the float switches and the trench is open for the water supply. ( 7 core because I forgot to mention two pumps to two different jojo tanks standing next to each other so will have junction at tanks. Float switches have normally open and closed contacts for low level and full.) Any assistance on control circuit would be welcome.
    Thanks again.

From my experience with tanks, it's gonna be near impossible to use 1 float switch for low level and full. On all the tank installation we use 2 float switches, one for high level, the other for low level or as Ian mentioned a level detector with probes.

    Peace out .. Derek
