Just been rereading the thread to see if I didn't miss something. Reading your post again Dave and I think we need to look at setting something up in Durban and Cape Town soon. I am sure that there are quality speakers over there that would make this a great experience. My problem is this, I do not have a database of business in those areas, nor do I know of venues that would be interested to make a free trade. I also need to consider my personal expenses in traveling so far. Maybe I should ask for collections at the doors, lol.

I'm quietly contemplating trying to get to one of the JHB sessions to get an idea of what you are doing. The venue would seem to be the main hurdle.

Don't worry about the venue. All we need is a venue that are not to busy that can handle at least 100 business delegates for at least 4 hours. Convincing them to do it for free is a simple process of making them understand what benefits is in it for them... I call it target marketing

Thanks Chatmaster for that vote of confidence.
Sorry that I didn't answer sooner. Sent you an email.
Been busy with jaffyhead What we need to decide on are the topics.

The topic I would like to speak about is 'why business plans don't work...", so Chatmaster tell the world what you would like to talk about.

Dave, it would be great if you could attend. Like to see if everyone looks like their photo.

    Hi Chatmaster
In the very limited time that I have now been involved in the leadership forum on this side it might be a bit much to have three speakers in one go?!?!?!
If you add question time in there as well you are going to have a 3 hour plus event and this could become too late for people that has already spent a day at the office ?!?!?!?

Just a thought, not a criticism and well done !!!

Hi Christob, Thanks for your input

Maybe I can answer for Chatmaster.

The session will run from 8am - 12.30pm. Each speaker will talk for 40minutes with a short Q & A discussion - 20 minutes max, with a short 20minute break. If all goes to plan three speakers should workout fine.

The procedure will work along these lines:
    1. Guest speak first
    2. then Chatmaster
    3. myself -if time permits.
If we have two guest speakers then:
    1. guest speaker
    2. guest speaker
    3. Chatmaster or myself
Should time run out the guest speaker(s) will always have their turn.

OK, I have started with the website and it will probably go live next Wednesday. The event will definitely take place on the 7th of March.

    My topic will be simple
"Your website is a waste of money!"
Yes that will be my topic, I am not letting the cat out of the bag yet, so do not ask It is a seminar I prepared about a year ago but never used. I will also publish an article with the same topic soon on Bizcommunity, if they want to publish it

    Hi Christob
Thanks for this comment. It was a concern I had as well but never mentioned to Vincent because I figured it out for myself when he suggested a 4 hour event

I have attended many seminars and workshops in the past where I even paid large amounts of money to listen to the speakers. Essentially they all had one thing in common, they were selling themselves to their audience. Every now and then they would refer to paid resources that are available on their websites or you can buy this or that through them at a discount. This will NOT be one of those and the speakers that do try to sell themselves with marketing talk about themselves are not welcome to speak. "A good speaker doesn't have to sell himself, the value he presents does that for him."

These events will focus on value! In order to deliver value, you need more time. So for any business owner to sacrifice 4 hours of his day to listen to quality and to network it is certainly worth every second.

This is a huge opportunity, not only for people to listen to quality seminars being presented, but to network and create new business relationships. We are talking about 250 top business men and women being invited, and lets be honest, THAT is where the money lies. Not paying a cent to attend such an event is not just a bargain but something not to miss!
