Hoping someone has a good legal knowledge of property sales and might be able to help me.
I purchased a one bedroom flat from a new development in Ballito, it was handed over to me and l gave them a snag list with no issues.
However two months later and after getting little feedback from the contractors about the snags, the transferring attorneys are still billing me occupational rent, which l thought was rather unfair because they have not attended to my snags and even given me feedback. On top of this they sent me a R18k +- electrical connection bill which was not in the sales agreement. When l question them about it they say l am indeed liable for both the occupational rent and this bill of 18K and they refer to a clause that says that the purchaser is liable for any utility and other expenses pertaining to the unit, no amount was ever mentioned though.
I feel these guys are exploiting me and really taking advantage of the trust l had in them. Please if anyone has experienced something similar or can offer some solid legal advice it will be appreciated.
