    International courier

Hi guys, this is new for me.

A friend in Australia is assisting to buy some small items for an old car. Not high value. Converted to rands its about R1350. (I read on the DHL site that if the gift is under R1400 then no customs will be billed so lucky for me). He will mark the goods as a gift when sending on to me.

Our challenge is to find a cost effective courier company to use to ship. For obvious reasons I will not use the post office.

I was sure we were going to use Aramex Global Shopper, but it seems they are more for online shopping.

Any reliable cost effective courier that you may have used would be appreciated.

The total package weight is 2kgs with dimensions of 60 x 30 x 20 cm.

    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kavesh

My sister lives in Sydney and she always ships to us in Cape Town and my brother in Namibia via DHL. We also ship from the UK to South Africa via DHL. You must remember that the companies contract services to one another anyway - Postnet uses DHL etc.

I'm not pro DHL per se - its just the company that doesn't give us a hard time.

    Thanks for the reply.
DHL would be perfect if their rates were affordable. For the little 2kg box from Oz to SA would set me back almost R3k

That is if you are sending by air - you can send by ship....if you are willing to wait 6 months.

Just to close this thread off, I eventually used Aramex Global Shopper. Its also air freight and less than a third of DHL, My parcel was shipped to my door is 2 weeks. I was not in a hurry so this was perfect.

Also this courier charges purely on weight and not volume as most others do.

This may assist someone in the future.

Good to know - We have a shedload of stuff that has to go from the UK to Namibia - This might be a huge cost saver.
