    Medically Disabled

    Hi,
Does anyone know when a person is diagnosed medically disabled (chronic psychiatric (bipolar) relapses) and given 6 months' sick leave, must the employer still pay the full pay of the employee? Or is it unpaid leave?

In terms of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, an employee is entitled to 6 weeks pay in a three year cycle. One exception is if the employee has worked for the employer for less than 6 months, the entitlement is one day of sick leave for every 26 days worked.
