    Using an Independent Contractor

    Hi all,

Company is looking at using an independent contractor to assist with various tasks. The contractor will be working mostly in the office for more than 24 hours a month and invoicing us monthly for the period that she is needed. This is a new business venture that the contractor is starting, therefore most of her income will be coming from us (if not all). How would her tax work? Is the company required to pay her PAYE to SARS? Should the contractor then sign a fixed term, 3 month contract or will she then be considered an employee?

    Thanks
