    This is getting interesting:

I removed 6 of the 12 of the batteries and took them for a second opinion ...the battery shop used a DHC battery & electrical system analyzer ...5 of the 6 passed

    vol: 12.63 v
    CCA: 807EN
    IR: 3.59mOhm
    Good dand pass
    SOH: 807EN
    100%
    SOC: 12.63V
    100%

Then carried out a load test using a hawkins battery tester.
Turned the current to 105 amps 3 of the 4 batteries which passed all the other tests where in the lene between the red and green.
1 battery stayed well in the green.

Then I took the batteries and weighed all of them...

weight ranges from 21.5 kg to 22.5 kg between the batteries.

It looks like we in for 12 new batteries as we cannot mix old and new.

The big question is which battery to use?

Do i stick with the lead acid (the cheapest and hope for another 5 years) R1870.00 gone up from R1700.00 since Saturday... the cheapest R26000.00 in vat

It seems the gel battery no longer features in the battery to use.

The AGM battery ...R2400.00 ...total R 33120.00 inc vat

Then new buzz word for batteries is lead carbon ...a little more R3300.00 total 45540.00 in vat

    Around R19000.00 difference in price.

The talk is that you get a better DOD and longer life... has anyone got actual proof of this?

Would it not be better to invest in a better BMS to monitor the charge rate ...equalization etc ?

I am all ears ...i have people lined up desperate for a backup system... which i believe in and wont break the bank and some.

My concern with AGM batteries they are totally sealed...just like your alarm battery... they only last around 2 years.

Can an AGM battery take a good beating ...high current draw for a period of time.
