If you don't know who Matt Cutts is, and you are looking to deploy a company website, or a website promoting your company, this post is for you!

There has been a very noticeable increase in marketing activity targetting small business owners, basically trying to ease money out of their pockets for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) for their business website.

Whilst most of what I'm seeing today is trying to part you from some money, this one will only cost you bandwidth - cheap at the price. Here is Matt Cutts in a 10 minute video interview talking about SEO tips for small business owners.

I was particularly struck by Matt's opinion of Wordpress 2.3, the simplicity of his approach to thinking about keywords, and his idea of where directories might be useful. He also touches on some of the great tools that Google in particular have that can help.

For anyone who is new to the subject of SEO for a business website, this might be a pretty handy little primer to at least get you thinking a little bit before you just spend the bucks.

Each point is only touched on briefly, so if anyone has any questions because they want to know more, by all means fire away.
