Medical tax credit for out of pocket expenses

I'm sorry if this has already been asked...

Can I claim for out of pocket expenses that incurred in the 2019 tax year, but were paid in the following tax year?

For example: I had an operation on the 27th of Feb, the medical paid a portion, but I only paid the remainder in March.

    TIA

Think if medical aid tax certificate show amount not covered by medical aid , you can claim amount in 2019 tax year and supply proof of payment in March 2019
