And here we are after another call from an estate agent pretending to know me and wanting to inquire about my property. Do estate agents have the right to obtain my personal information from the Deeds Office if I have no current dealings with them and did not consent to is? It includes names, ID number, telephone numbers, addresses, activity of properties owned and sold and the list goes on. Isn't the POPI Act supposed to protect your information from such abuse? I cannot see any reasonable reason for obtaining personal information such as this in this circumstance other than pure marketing and soliciting of business. Surely this cannot be right.
