    IOD

Hello, please could you tell me if I can claim money back that I have been paying to my employee, who has been off for 2 months now, from the department of labour? I have just spoken with someone from DOL in Uitenhage and they have 'never heard of this'. They did tell me that my employee needs to visit their offices with a bunch of UIF documents from myself and the doctor so that he can claim compensation after being off for a period of 3 months.

    Hi

On IOD you pay the employee 75% of the wage and if the DOL have accepted the claim they should refund you with the wages paid
It should be a simple process , but I am sure they will make you jump through all sorts of hoops until you give up.

I am registered through FEM and have fortunately not had to deal with DOL for claims in a long while - I have pasted a link that may assist in understanding the process
