    Unfair demotion?

    I have been employed at a company as management representative for the past 3 years for quality. Since then it has become an integrated management system,with the new ISO versions,Management rep becomes a role that requires to be of management and no longer a job title. The company refuses to make me part of management and revoked my title without consulting and issued the financial manager with it who has no knowledge or expertise.my work continues as normal though.i am also performing the tasks of a h&s manager. In order for me not to get a management job title they have the title to the maintenance manager who also has no expertise or any input. This seems to be so that my salary can't increase. There is no one else in my sheq department besides me. Sitting without a job title at the moment.is this unfair labour practice?unfair demotion? What to do ...

    What is in your employment contract regarding title?

    My contract is pretty basic, but I have an appointment letter as qmr for 2017 and sheqmr signed feb 2018 by the MD giving me full responsibility for the sheq management system,reporting to top management monthly audits etc and working alongside operations manager. They revoked this,due to the ISO system requirements of the mr being part of management. And made the finance manager mr. heard it through the grapevine,while I was applying for recertification of ISO accreditation.

    The financial manager has been assigned with my title as management representative. So I am basically without a job title. So far it's what is being said to me and nothing on paper besides the re application for ISO certification specifying the financial manager being the management representative. The only official thing that will happen is when I get a new job description-the title will change but I will carry on with the same work. I was verbally told so by management. So besides for my emails sending out requests for meetings and listing my duties and asking for clarity I have not received any written response. There will be no consultation. It's now based on the same principle of employing someone with a financial degree to do the work of a financial manager but calling them a bookkeeper to avoid paying them more or giving them correct authority.

    Do you need a specific certification for this position and if so does either you or the financial manager have the qualification?

    Yes you need to be an internal auditor I have got a qualification for lead auditor for intergrated management system. The fm does not even understand the basic terminology.
