    VAT claim on vehicle purchase

    Good Morning.

My name is Carlo and I'm a owner of a cc. My company is VAT Registered and I'm currently busy with a 6million rand contract whereby I fit and supply build in cupboards. I have 2 company bakkies that is on my personal name. I wanted to know if I should buy another 2 bakkies on my company name so that I can reclaim the VAT back if it can be done that way.

    Regards
    Carlo

If you need to buy bakkies, then yes - I would certainly buy it in the entity that can claim the Capital Input VAT rather than in my own name where I can't.

Just remember you can't claim the VAT back on double cabs - the load carrying area has to be bigger than the passenger carrying area.
