Following the verdict of the van Breda murder case where Henri was convicted of murdering his parents and brother and attempting to murder his sister AND defeating the ends of justice; it seems he plans on spending his time behind bars in the hospital wing and not with the general prison population. He is claiming to be suffering from depression, shame.

This seems to be the modus operandi for all convicted fellons with money in SA. Prison appears to be only for the poor, not the rich, if you are rich, go get a doctors note and spend your time in the relative comfort of the prison hospital. Van Breda joins a select group who have followed this route - Schabir Shaik, Radovan Krejcir, Tony Yengeni, Oscar Pistorius, Shrien Diwani and J Arthur Brown to name a few. This is shameful, especially if anyone went to any prison is SA there would be countless examples of very sick inmates confined to the general prison section in far more desperate need of medical attention than this group.

I believe the powers that be need to take a far more rigid stance on this preferential treatment, reserve the hospital beds for those honestly deserving of treatment and let the rest serve their punishment.
