10mm SWA n parallel as sub main?

Hi. Can anyone see a problem with having 2 x 4 core 10mm swa as an 80 amp sub main supply. I know 10mm 4 core can take 62 amps. If run together in parallel from the same 80 amp mccb breaker to the same sub main switch in the the same sub db board with a 10mm c.p.c. can anyone see a problem with that? Its an existing installation. At the moment there is no 10mm earth so I intend to add that as the earth fault loop reading is a little high. Advise please.

From memory, there is a reference to this somewhere in the regs which I don't have available to check at the moment. It was in amendment 6 or 7 maybe and in the cable current capacity section. It says something along the lines of as long as the cables are same cunductor size and conductor material and insulation material and they follow the same route (same length) and installation method, they must be supplied from the same place in the DB, there's no spurs or tees then yes, you can use parallel cables to carry the load. I can't remember off hand if there's a derating factor to be applied... I'd have to check tomorrow.

    Hi Skating Sparks

There are no issues with doubling up on your cable.

No problem as long as they are EXACT same length.
