There's a need for more eCommerce Platforms like BoB

Gumtree and OLX are both primarily for classifieds and advertisements. BidorBuy is the only (popular) eCommerce platform running where buyers and sellers meet. I think South Africa really needs more platforms like this. People who cannot sell on BoB has to resort to an international platform like eBay. But it seems like SA users are much more comfortable with local websites like BoB.

Usually BoB is pretty competent and they're trying their best to filter the baddies. Though sometimes BoB unfairly discharges users where they have genuinely made mistakes.

If someone were to start up another eCommerce platform, what are the initial requirements aside from the actual web development?

There isn't much competition at all for BoB, and unfortunately SA's economy is going down everyday. If SA users had more platforms to expose their talents it could help, in a way. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that more eCommerce platforms are really needed in SA, along with all the feature-rich benefits other countries enjoy like the instant Google Pay method and the 1-click shopping carts.

Are there particular or unreachable licenses or something refraining people from creating some competition for BoB? (No offence against Bob - it's my favourite eCommerce platform just trying to give some insight to our fellow South Africans)...

And for those who already had/has some plans to create another eCommerce platform, What would you change on BidorBuy? What would you improve? What would be your benefits against BoB? Will you give the sellers more or less leniency, and why? Would you stick with the same filter scheme as Bob or allow for more feature-rich applications? Would you create a synchronized mobile app version that has all the same features and benefits as the desktop version?

    Food for thought.
