    Hello everyone,

My company is planning to import some server equipment in Johannesburg. But we are not sure about all these customs clearance procedure. All these docs. Have anybody imported goods with DHL?
We want to use there services to represent us as an import agent.
What documents will they send to us?

Maybe ask DHL and customs? I doubt DHL will do much different that any other company which needs to take good through customs. There are also freight forwarders which can probably help.

get help from a shipping agent or freight forwarder. They know the rules and procedures. Worthwhile, even if you have to pay a small fee.

    Hi

DHL will be able to assist with everything. They will tell you what docs you need and assist in completion if necessary. Its quite important that you have the correct docs on time in SA as if these are not submitted on time resulting in a delayed collection can result in storage/demurrage charges.

You will need to give them clearing instructions - which are pretty much what to do with the shipment once it arrives and how to declare it for customs purposes (duties /VAT). It's worth double-checking what tariff number to use with your Supplier. DHL may also be able to help with this but worth understanding it as if there are customs queries you will need to explain and any costs, in any will be yours!

Most freight companies are pretty helpful!

    Thanks
    Gillian
