    Video Camera

    Hi All,

Any suggestions on a good video camera to purchase.

Not looking for a sports \ action camera. Looking for a normal home use for recording family moments.

I see so many options and types FHD, 4K and different recording media types.

Also how does this relate to the recording space required \ file sizes, etc...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I have a canon SX40 camera, and bought the wife the newer SX530 version with the 100x zoom function. They price around R5k and can do HD video. The size depends on the memory card you use. For the price I think they are good.

First day I tested the wife's camera I video'd a passenger aircraft flying over us. Unfortunately it would not focus on the earoplane, but later when I played the video on the PC there were two other very fast flying aircraft not visible with the eye flying one past and and the other around the airliner. This was the 4th time we saw foreign flying objects in our area.
    Regards
    Fanie

A small bridge Canon on Nikon might do the trick. DSLR's are over specced, over priced and over weight....

I currently have a Canon SX510 - you think it would be sufficient to use as a video camera instead of buying a separate video camera? It also does full HD

    Mostly for videos of baby...

There is no point in buying a separate video camera. All the cameras save to the same formats and bridge / dslr's have way better lenses than dedicated video cameras. The only reason for buying a separate video camera in the olden days was that the video was stored on different media.
