    Insurance Cover

    Hi All,

I have jewelry that I use on a daily basis, these items are covered under the All Risk section of my insurance policy.

The jewelry that is not used on a daily basis, and kept in the safe at home, it is covered in the household contents section of the policy and the insurance will only cover these items if it is damaged or stolen while it is locked in the safe on the property.

If I were to use items of jewelry from the safe that are not specified under the All Risk section of my policy, for one night, twice a year (for example), I understand that the items will not be covered for those two nights, but is there any way to get cover for these items for when I use them without specifying it under the All Risk section of the policy?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you confirmed this with your insurance?
My insurance allows me to change cover, in a case like this, for when I need it, and then change it back to it's original state afterward.

    Hi SilverNodashi,

My insurer is Santam, and they have told me that I either cover the jewelry under the All Risk section or under the home contents section.
They have said there aren't any other options.

What I meant to say is: Insure it under house hold content, then change the insurance type when you know you will take it out of the house, and change it back once it's back in the house.

Ok I see what you mean. This is a good idea, I'll speak to my insurance about it and see what they say.
    Thanks for your help.
