More than trading names and VAT

I am a bit confused with trading as names.

If you have a company ABC (Pty) Ltd, and VAT registered, can you have more than one trading as name?

For example ABC (Pty) Ltd t/a Joe's Motors and ABC (Pty) Ltd t/a Joe's Supermarket.

Per the VAT guide, you are allowed to have more than one trading name with the same VAT number. You can split it and have two VAT numbers, but not required to do so. I want to have two trading as names.

SARS efiling only allows one trading as name.

    Have I missed something?

Not really. They are different issues.

Why would SARS eFiling be required to have capacity for a long list of trading names? Regardless of the number of trading names, you will still only transact with eFiling per registered entity.
