    Bargain Torch / Worklight

I spotted these in the RS catalogue whilst I was looking for an Ex rated flashlight. It's made by a UK company who have been in the business for many years and at R168.69, batteries included and delivered to my door, I thought it looked like a bargain so I added a couple to my order. Their part number is 907-6463 and for some obscure reason they've filed it under 'headlamps' in the catalogue so you wouldn't see it if you were searching for a torch or work-light.

It arrived and I was very happy to see it's a really nice, small and lightweight LED work-light. It's got a row of 10 SMD LED modules mounted in a 65mm long reflector so it gives a wide and even spread of light which is better for working unlike a normal flashlight which has a focused beam. It's got a magnetic pocket clip on it that rotates through 180 degrees so you can just stick it somewhere and use it hands free and angle it wherever you need the light. It's also bright as all hell so it gives very effective work light up to a distance of a 4 or 5 meters.

I've been using mine for about a week and I already managed to drop it down a flight of stairs but thankfully it survived without any evident injury. I can't comment on the battery life because I've maybe used it for 4-5 hours and it's still running on the original 3x AAA alkaline batteries it came with.

I personally don't like headlights, I find them annoying and cumbersome to use and the elastic straps have a short life expectancy if you use them daily so I'm using this as my primary work light now and it's working great for me so I thought it might be something useful for the 'hands-on' guys.

Hee hee, I think we should avoid the name of tool head. You should check out the Snap-On tool catalogue Bergie, it weighs in at 820 pages of pure tool-porn.
