This should be a good place to start: http://lifehacker.com/5976912/a-begi...urce=pulsenews. A friend of mine started playing with one of these recently.

Using a Pi is challenging if you are not very computer literate. Setting the pi up to do what you want to is also more than a little time consuming.

A great "works instantly" alternative is a Cloudgate Circle

I use one with a palm size usb keyboard and I have honsetly never had a hiccup

    Prediction:
As people are getting fed-up with Multichoice who continues to rip us off, more and more people will switch to online streaming or downloads for their movies. One can still watch the cricket and Springboks on SABC, although some broadcasts may be delayed.

Multichoice is trying to tie you in with a two year contract with an upfront increase of at least R100 pm with "no increases for the next two years". Of course there will be no increases, you are paying the increase in advance! Their programs are crappy and not worth paying for all the repeats and shitty movies aimed at the Nigerian market.

Netflix and Showmax are better options for those who want to watch movies. Sport is such a fraud with drugs, match fixing and predictable outcomes such as F1 that I do not watch anymore. Spend more time outdoors and not in front of the TV and then download what you want to watch whenever you want to. Amazing how much more you can get out of life!

Will be a while before people ditch multi choice most of sa still struggles to get 4Mbps adsl. So streaming is still a pipe dream to most.
