    Uuuugh - Non responsive computers

    PLEASE help !!!

I had a DELL, which gave me all sorts of problems. Be that a sit may, it made 3 years.

    I went to buy a Lenovo, 4 MB and a 1.7 - 2.1 ghz processor.
When I got non responding on word form day 1, I took it straight back and got my money back.

Then I bought the CAer Inspire 2 in 1.
    4MB and 2.1 GHZ
    She was quick and responsive.
I downloaded office - no problems.
Yesterday I downloaded Box and ESET virus.
Suddenly - disaster!!!, in fact I cant even access anything - Lucky I kept the DELL donkey around so I could send out this plea.
I could not even open word.

    WTF!!! Any advice,

    Oh - Windows 8 running

Anthony I am not a computer bof, but handle all our computers at work, so am self taught and can sort out 90% of problems.
I have also had this problem in the past and what I did was delete the antivirus software totally from you computer for the add/delete program, not just from your desk top - run a defrag and delete your cookies from you internet browser. This normally helps me - hope it helps you.

That is very god advice @hrsolutions.

Maybe what you need to do is to observe that all the hardware is there, yes? this means of course that it is not a hardware problem - but, if it is, then you should try to install the operating system again from disk, to check? often the people that set things up make a mess, what with windows already being a mess, it makes things worse. often technicians are familiar only with i.b.m. or i7s, yes? this means they will absentmindedly set it up wrong!

Of course, i suspect it is a software problem. this means, if you want to keep that relic windows, you might need to remove some options from the choices, as, the technician, once again, must have set it up too lavishly so it 'chunks.' with windows there is messy programming, as, lying at the top of the software market, people get lazy, yes?
!! Going to my destruction !!

    laptops freeze for 3 reason
    1 hardware
    2 incomparable software
3 a virus took hold of your pc

i would run a program called "EMSISOFT emergency kit"
let it do a scan and follow the prompts to the letter
get rid of your antivirus and install avast it is not heavy
and my laptops "3 of them" have no problem with it

make sure windows updates are turned off for windows 8
and windows 8.1 there are 4 updates that will kill your pc
rather keep the antivirus updated forget windows updates
they are heavy and mess around with critical parts of the
    os

next time go for a i3 laptop with 6gb of ram as a minimum
ask the guy to install a ssd normal hdd dont last in laptops

sometimes you have to do a "recovery" and if you dont know
how google it or get someone to do it for you it will fix
whatever os updates broke normally you dont lose your info
you will lose whatever software you installed when you do
    a recovery

    Greetings all,

I was trying to do a refresh but could not access system, that is how frozen it was.
Anyway I eventually removed all the anti virus and restored the ESET.
All is well, but will look at the other suggestions just for extra speed.

    Thanks to all!!

oh you again before you call me stupid
you do know that some viruses do
corrupt the os beyond repair right?

be nice nobody is in the mood for crap
also see windows known update errors
and fixes you can google it

if you knew anything about win8 you
would know that you can do a refresh
that will fix stuff and if all else fail a
reinstall is sometimes the only option

    calling someone stupid is absolutely
    unnecessary

    Is “Crap” a Bad Word?

In the hierarchy of profanity (or vulgarity), the word “crap” is pretty low. It’s probably not quite as bad as “d@mn” but a little worse than “hell,” depending on the context.

I am perfectly within my rights to express my thoughts regarding the re-installation of Windows. I am of the opinion that it is a stupid idea given the events leading up to the problem.

If you take offence to my expressing my views then that is entirely your perogative. I stand by my view.

You need to learn the difference between an idea and a person. When a human tells another human that their idea is stupid it speaks of the idea and not the person. If on human tells another human that they are stupid that would be a view directed at the person and not the idea.

Please feel free to ask me (nicely) to explain this in simpler terms if you feel that the basic concepts that I just described are beyond your grasp. I will gladly have my 16 year old daughter explain it to you in Whatsapp shorthand.
