Are we talking "in cash" here?

I seem to recall there's an issue for "ordinary citizens" with holding foreign cash in SA for any length of time.

The last time I checked which was about 2 years ago, ordinary citizens have 30 days (from date of arriving in South Africa) to convert foreign currency into Rands. I am sure that there ways to work around this but I haven't explored the "informal market".
