Anyone done or knowanyone who did an online MBA?

Its a tricky balance between affordability, credibility and content.

I think credibility is an issue with these online courses. rather do it through a reputable institution like GIBS or WITS.

There are leading international business schools with MBA online.
GIBS, Wits etc require attendance which is a problem.

Not sure this is the solution you're looking for, but here's an interesting read on the subject.

I have to say every now and then I'm tempted to chase an MBA myself. If you find something interesting, be sure to share, please.

My son in law just recently completed his MBA via Wits. From the sounds of things, it was pretty tough, and required many hours in research and preparation of assignments.
he was also required to attend weekly classes, and many of these were presented by industry representatives.

My reason for doing MBA is part learning part self marketing.
Kind of tough to say you have a self taught mba when trying to get upper level consulting jobs/contracts.
So, there is a need for a piece of paper at the end.
I must say I will check out these free options as a possible training tool for employees and even owners and of course no harm for self development either which way.

So far one of the best priced is Edingburgh business school. R90 000, or R 10000 per subject. Nice subject range. Price is for African continent and you can pay as you go. So far the best option for cash flow.
London Business school is ranked second to Harvard and MBA costs 6500 pounds. You can also use them for a dual degree including the CFA qualification.

The swiss have Columbria University. 10000 swiss francs (so about R 130000) and pay as you go as well. The proffs involved include Porter which is some serious street cred.

Im torn between Swiss and Edingburgh. Edingurgh has better electives for my specialisation.
The only possible drawback is that they are exams only, no dissertation, which is dissappointing. Columbria on the other hand are assignment only.

The prices of online courses are certainly making it possible. Almost all online MBA are conferred as if taught on campus, so the paper does not say online (important).
