    Pastel Forms Designer

    Hi All,

    I'm really struggling with this forms designer. We are running on Pastel Partner and have 3 companies that run on our Pastel and I am busy setting up each company's Invoices template. Each company's template is slightly different from the other.

    What I want to know, how do I tell pastel which form to use for which company? I have tried saving each form under the company's name, but it does not seem to work.

    What Mike said.

    If, for example, you are printing to A4 plain paper, the invoice form file should be csdocsp.enz, and saved into the company folder. Also, under File...Printer/Fonts Setup, make sure that the Paper Style for Invoices is set to Plain, Single Sheet paper.

    Hi all
    my customised documents are correct when printed, but when emailed they are automatically converted to html and don't work.
    What am I missing?

    Hi Steve,

    Make a copy of the customised form file and rename it to include the letters "pdf" just before "sp". For example, if the form file is named csdocsp.enz, the copy file must be named csdocpdfsp.enz.

    Hi Yolanda,

    Each form needs to be saved in the relevant company folder and not using the company name.

    Retain the default form name (csdocsp.enz - .eng is automatically changed to .enz as an indication to Partner that this is a customised form).

    Make the changes to the form for Company 1 and save it in the Company 1 folder, then do the same for Company 2 and Company 3.

    If you're accessing Partner via a server, then save these forms in the company folders on the server. Any images that have been added to each of the forms will need to be saved in their respective folders as well.

    As with Neville's comment above, once you have finalised the design for each form you will need to create a pdf for e-mailing purposes and again, save each one in the company's respective folder.

    Just a little tip regarding image files that are used as logos in Forms Designer, particularly in a multi-user environment:

    As Sally has mentioned, save the logo files in the respective company folders on the main/server computer.

    In a multi-user environment, you will have created mapped drives from each of the workstations to the Pastel folder on the main/server computer.

    Make sure that you use the same mapped drive letter on each workstation, e.g. P: or Z:.

    Also create a mapped drive on the main/server computer, pointing back to its own Pastel folder on its C: drive. Then, in Forms Designer, when you set up the location of the logo file, use the mapped drive letter to reference the logo location (not the main/server computer's C: drive). This will ensure that all the computers will reference the logo file consistently, as they will all be using the same mapped drive letter.

    Neville, I learnt a neat little trick that is practically fail proof when it comes to logos/graphics. Simply removing the file path from the beginning of the file name in the properties section of form saved on the server eradicates the need to map the drives on individual workstations.

    This is a huge time-saver when there are a large number of users.
