    Generator required

Hi all, I am looking for a generator between 3 and 5KVA. Preferably Honda diesel but will weigh up all options. Anyone know who has available now?

Are you looking for second hand or new? I've just bought another 3 new Honda 6KVA gennys because I inadvertantly got into a surprisingly lucrative rental business with the others that I own.

That would depend on how new/old and your asking price. I am in the market for more than one.

I've got an old site genny that's seen some action but runs fine. I'm going to sell it because it's different to all my others and with the increasing number I now own I need to standardise and stick with Honda for the sake of stocking spares and service items etc. I'm not 100% sure of the make but it's got a Robin petrol engine. It's probably 10 years old and I was going to Gumtree it at R700.00 with a view to getting no less than R500.00 for it. I'm not sure it would be worth the courier to PE though.

What size and condition is it Andy? I might consider it for use during load shedding. I was foiled by load shedding within 10 minutes of arriving on site Friday for an inspection, will have to trek all the way back for my tests and readings. I am looking for new/nearly new gennys' for a few clients actually.

I think it's a 5KVA but I'll check and I'll also take a photo so you can see it.

Andy, I am in Cape Town and might be interested. Can it be connected by extension lead and can run a PC with printer, router, scanner?

I didn't get a chance to photo it today but it's a very basic site generator so I wouldn't recommend you run sensitive electronic items with it. We used it mainly for portable site flood lighting in the days before LED was widely available, nowadays we use a few rechargeable 50w LED floods which are a lot less bulky and less hassles so it's hardly been used for the last couple of years. It's also far from silent so it's not a good option for a domestic back-up solution, I thought Sparks might have wanted something for site power which was why I mentioned it.

Sounds ideal for angle grinders and drills on sites under construction. Just what I need.
