    Steel Palisade Fencing

    Hello,

Looking for some advise on steel palisade fencing.

What is the best mixture of price and strength material wise e.g. 25x25x1.6mm or 30x30x1.6mm

and what would be the expected costs per meter installed?

    Any other tips are welcome

    Thanks,

You are wasting your time with both of those - they are too small and too thin. You should not go below 40x40x1.6mm or 40x40x2mm or rather 40x40x3mm proper angle, but that is a bit of overkill. If you go that small with a 2 m fence you can actually bend it with your hands. The most commonly one used is 40x40x2mm which can still be bent with a bit more force.

Thanks for the reply. The difference in price is great between the sizes from 25x25x1.6mm to 30x30x1.6mm is roughly 25% increase in price.

    Any other comments\experiences?

Ok no problem - ask your installer to give you a 2m length of 25x25x1.6mm palisade pale and have a look at it and bend it.

I would think that a change from 25 to 30 is 20% more in material alone, so 25% increase is probably not far off.
Whatever you do make sure you galvanize it and do not paint it until 6m are over.

I am not fan of Palisade fencing, although it has it's place. We have just installed a product called ClearVu on the riverfront facing side of our house. It is a stunning product, we are very pleased with it. It looks good and has a very high security rating.

    See http://www.clearvu.com/index.php

    Cheers

Yip the prices vary alot between contractors.

The biggest worry is the 50% down payment that most of them ask for.

It is alot of money to pay upfront with the risk of not knowing them well.

Anyone know of good reliable contractors you have personal experience with in the Pretoria area?
