    Anyone using Microsoft Dynamics GP?

We have a start up business with a number of companies already in the structure (around 5 at the moment) and are looking for an accounting package. At the moment we are looking at GP and Pastel.....anyone with experience on these two?

    (Not interested in QB)

    Hi Travis,

Although I cannot comment on GP, I am happy to answer any questions that you might have regarding Pastel, as well as to provide you with quotes.

From an implementation and support point of view, I can also assist you remotely via TeamViewer and Skype.

Neville, could you tell me....would Pastel run on Mac machines? Guys in our business are Apple crazy so ideally we want something that will be compatible

I am running Pastel on my MacBook Pro, although not directly on the Mac OS. I have Parallels installed as a virtual machine which has Windows 8 loaded, and Pastel is running there. In other words, Pastel can only run on a Windows platform.

Yeah I thought so. Not a big issue then though. Looks like Pastel will probably be the better option for us.

I know GP runs off a central server....does Pastel do the same or do you run it off individual machines? A server would make much more sense to me.

You could run Pastel on a central server and then access it from anywhere, using Microsoft Terminal Services.

It does mean, though, that you would need to have Windows Server OS installed, together with the requisite number of Terminal Services licences.

Don't try the VPN option, as you will then run the risk of data corruption over an internet connection that may fail, nevermind the frustration of a slow connection. With Terminal Services, Pastel does not need to be installed on the workstations and all the processing takes place on the server - the only data being transmitted over the connection includes screenshots, mouse commands and keyboard commands.

The toolkit that includes eConnect, Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP, and Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP. You can use these tools to build Microsoft .NET-based solutions, customizations, and extensions for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010.
