Hacking and eavesdropping what is the difference

The US newspapers are full of how the Chinese Hacked the US Government.??

How is this different to all the eavesdropping the NSA is doing internationally??

Or is it like the SA bleat about racism, that only whites are racist? only non US states are 'Hackers'

    see from the same 'Huffpo'

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter just as killing in the name of your religion is righteous but the enemy killing in the name of his religion is sinful and wrong.

Politicians paint verbal pictures using words that suit their agenda. Stark objective reality has no relevance in the world of politics!

The US is two-faced & self-centred in ALL its dealings. Septics are not overly trustworthy.

I watched the movie Memphis Belle again the other night. In the movie they fly into Germany to do a bombing run but they find that the target is obscured by clouds. The pilot then makes a big deal about not killing civilians so they go around and do the run over again to be sure that they only hit the target and no civilians. Of course they are very proud of themselves to have risked life and limb to repeat the run to save the civilians.

Of course as we all know they simply dumped Napalm indiscriminately all over Vietnam and dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan. I can just imagine one pilot asking the other "Hey Jim, where shall we drop the bomb?" and the other pilot responding "Just as long as it doesn't fall directly on a woman or child my conscience is clear...the collateral damage is not my problem"

No difference whatsoever. As long as the Chinese make some vague claim that the surveillance of the US networks was part of their anti-terrorism efforts then they're entitled to covertly surveil/hack whatever the hell they like if we work on the benchmark set by the US in recent years.

A really interesting thing to think about is what a movie would look like as seen from the Japanese or any other perspective for that matter.

My kids have a subject at school called "African Fiction"...or as they would like to call it "History" The truly amazing thing about this subject is that it mutates every year.

The past is changed every day by present politicians to ensure their future!

The US are the biggest hypocrites out there !!! F**k if there's the slightest hint that "their" oil might be affected, they send a warship and maybe even create a war or they poke their noses in everyone's business and ignore their own problems !! And as for "hacking" or spying - they wrote the book on it !!!!

I read last night that people are no longer able to board planes with cell phones unless the phone can be turned on to prove that it isn't a bomb. Of course this is American bullcrap as usual.

Returning to the original question, perhaps eavesdropping is when a government does it, hacking is when it's done by the private sector or an ordinary citizen.

Or maybe eavesdropping is when you aren't spotted, and hacking is when the intrusion is detected.

There's also the issue of whether you're the eavesdropper or the hackee, or which party you feel more partisan towards.
