    Vulcan catering equipment

If you ever want to be bent over and f^&*%^ right up the backside properly go to Vulcan and buy stuff.

I didn't realise just how badly until recently when I went and purchased exactly the same item from another company.

I needed a lamp holder recently so I went to http://www.vulcan.co.za/
I thought the price was excessive but I had no idea how badly they where actually shafting me. Considering the company I have recently purchased additional units from must be a making a reasonable mark up and selling them to me for R145.00 including vat.

Vulcan sold me 2 units for R 925.68.

I requested a refund for their product but have just received an email indicating that they do not offer refunds on electrical items...even if it is still in the original packaging.

I suppose if I managed to shaft my customers so badly and got away with it I would also not offer refunds.

It must be a hell of a lamp holder.

    Ditto Andy.

This is going to get interesting, considering a lamp holder is much like a DB enclosure, or even better still a door latch for a DB enclosure, electrical companies can just say it is an electrical component, sorry no refund.

If you dont have to refund for a lamp holder because it is an "electrical component" this makes the entire electrical industry void from any form of control by the customer protection act. The fact that the lampholder is made of stainless steel and porcelain, with no actual lamps, electronics etc.

I would hate to see what the service team accounts are like from Vulcan. Thank God I am not in the catering business....actually maybe I am looking at this from the angle. Time to start looking around for service contracts with catering companies, I wouldn't even need to charge labour the mark up on the material would support my business. Time to call Vulcan and get a quote to do some repairs to get an idea of their labour price structure
