Ex Employer refuses to provide UIF document

Can anyone please help? I won my CCMA case in a small amount because I didn't take the arbitration further, just far too stressful. Now I cannot get my UIF document and the Labour Department say there is nothing more they can do. I asked them 'why do we have a Labour Dept.'? Thank you.

Is there a chance that they are confused?

It may be that they think you want money or something like that and beelieve that because there was an award or settlement the matter is closed. Correctly so.
However, the issuing of UIF documents and certificate of service, would still be under their jurisdiction.

The trouble with DoL is it's a huge Department with many different divisions. So -

Did you raise this issue with the UIF section?

Oh yes, have raised issue with CCMA and UIF. The UIF inspector went to the premises however when corruption and fraud is involved that should alone tell us all something and everything. So should I go to YOU magazine or phone CAPE TALK? Or should I just shrug it off and struggle to pay off the overdraft that I had to get due to unfair dismissal? Then I ask myself why do we have a Corruption Unit? never mind a Labour Department! Gosh if I don't laugh I'll be crying all day long. Thank you for the responses!

No it doesn't. What corruption and fraud?
    Exactly what happened?

    Hi Dave
When you have to pay a R3m fine .... and when you're still under 'investigation' .... All I want is my UIF documents, the sad thing is what about those others who don't even know their labour rights, who went through the same thing as I did, not to mention the innocent, vulnerable, poor, uneducated including pensioners, and those with savvy but too much money, who have lost financially (ripped off). I doubt writing to the Minister of Labour would help either?
    Regards

My best suggestion for the immediate future is find a better employer. Justice is soooo slooowww and in the meantime you need to eat.

Something else that I've heard is working a bit better than normal at the moment is taking your problem to a politician. It's an election year and it seems they're quite a bit more responsive than normal.
