    legal templates

    Greetings,
    Looking for some input.
As a business owner, new or old, what are the types of legal documents you would most like to have access to?
I imagine Employment contract permanent and Employment fixed term are a given.
    What about
    Confidentiality
    Restraint,
Basic policies (computer usage, vehicles, telephones, sexuaal harrassment)

Then possibly non disclosures, sale agreement, partnership, lease?

As individuals/private persons - basic will, sale agreement (car for example), lease?

I think also if the thought process is not only as individuals but around what people ask us for or we hear people asking. The idea is also obviously a basic outline. Obviously a partnership or sale agreement could become as complex as we want, but for 2 guys turning a hobby into a busines and wanting some formality a basic template is better than nothing.

The input is eagerly awaited and appreciated.

Restraint pops to mind ..... In fact we are looking for a decent one as we speak.
Confidentiality and employment also are ones that we always need as well as short term contracts.

From me,a contract about ownership of artwork and photos. My understanding is the author owns it. Waiver of liability when working on customer material.

Thats quite a good idea. Because its relevant to printers, designers and non alike.
I know having had business cards done, when you want to move printer they dont give design.

Interesting, some one is busy doing a brochure for us, and charging us for the design and artwork and layout, but yet we can not get access to the artwork once the printing is done. I feel that if I am paying for it to be done, then it should be mine.

What is your thoughts on this.

For artwork the way I understand is the author or creator owns it, so you have to get the rights assigned to you when you commission it. Some people do charge more and then give you all the rights. What we do is give it the client if they ask unless their account is in arrears or there were lots of "author alterations" and we spent a lot more time on it than budgeted.

A difficult one to call, it is similar as in software, I use my own intellectual property to complete the task that the client asked for, so who owns it at the end of the day?
The payment made by the client was simply for the time to have manipulated the contents of previous versions of software to make it work as the client requested it.

Add as part of employment contract - owners right to look at emails, cell phone records and any other equipment records supplied by the company.
