Hired at a company and a new position has opened up at the same company. Can I apply?

    Good Morning all

    Just a quick query

A client of mine has been hired at a company, she has signed her contract and she has received a letter of appointment from the 1 Sep 2013.
A new position has opened up at the same company that she believed would be better suited to her.

Would she able to apply, should she go in and discuss it with her new HR Manager, or leave it as is

She asked me for advice and I honestly don't know

Can I ask you a question before answering. How many jobs has she had over the last 10 years ? And how many gaps are on her cv over the last same period ?
