    Medical Aids...

Here's something I have been wondering about.

When I get an "Tax Certificate" from the medical aid, it states "expenses not recovered by the scheme" = Rxxx.xx, this figure is always very low. But my MSA (med saving account) is much higher than this figure. Surely, medical expenses paid from my MSA are indeed expenses paid from my savings, and therefore they are not covered by the scheme, so why are they not reflected as such on the tax certificate?

Is this just another loophole, or am I missing something?

my understanding is that the savings account is built up from a small portion of your total monthly contributions. you would already would have claimed these total contributions for tax purposes & as i pointed out included in this would be that saving component.
