    Form UI-19 not received from previous employer

    I will be unemployed as from 1 June and will need to claim UIF. I worked for a company for about 4 months in 2010 and was not given a form UI-19 when I resigned, despite my having requested one. I am fully aware that I cannot claim UIF if I have resigned. My concern however is whether I would still be expected to produce a UI-19 from the company in question when I register for UIF at the Dept. of Labour.

    Feedback would be most appreciated.

    They will only require a UI-19 from your last employer.

    Hi,

    It will all depends if the previous employer has submitted the UI-19 to the Dept of Labour. If their system indicates that you have contributed for the 4 month's they will used htis in the calculation of the amount of credits that you are entitled to. If not, you would need to produce a UI-19 to proof your contribution. Unfortunetly they do not except any other proof (for example payslips etc). The only way to find out if they submitted is to visist your local Department of Labour office.

    The fact that you resigned from a previous company would not change your current claim, it is only used to indicate that you contributed and are entitled to claim now.
