    Windows 8

Have to work with Windows 8 and am battling to download and install Filezilla. What do Windows 8 users use to FTP?

Think it's simply a case of unzipping the file
Having difficulty adapting after being dragged out of my comfort zone

    I am not winning
WinZip is free but not free
And I am battling to install an alternative

    After I download http://www.nchsoftware.com/zip/index.html
I double click it and am asked what I want to open it with Notepad or Word or Explorer
What I can't figure out is how to execute the Zip programme and use it to open and install Filezilla

On Windows 8 Explorer opens zip files for you as it is built in.....as such you should not need to download a zip utility but if you want then.......
Rather download 7-zip at http://www.7-zip.org/ the *.msi file and use that - it's free open source and works very well ......
You can also right click on the downloaded *.exe file for filezilla and choose run as administrator to execute and install as it is in self extracting exe format and does not need to be unzipped.

After right clicking Filezilla I am given the option of opening it with Internet Exporer, Notepad, Paint and a few others.
I click on Lookj for another App on this PC and get taken to the program folder....

Use 7zip very good will open many different types of compressed files and there is a http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/7-zip_portable Portable version that is only 2mb so small download.

Problem circumvented by installing Firefox. Don't really understand why but apparently Internet Explorer 10 is missing a few bytes.
