Workman's Compensation - IS IT WORKING FOR YOU!

    Hello All,

As you will see if you check our profile, we are a small COID Agency that administrates accounts and so forth on behalf of Companies, Individuals and Medical Practitioners.

Over the last year, we have noticed an increased trend at the offices of the Compensationn Commissioner which requires you to hurry up and wait, the attitude of the staff if you can get through to the CALL CENTRE is at an all time low and not at all very helpful if you do not have a whole day to sit and wait for them to answer or decide to answer.

So, what we have done is we have contacted a number of high profile members in the Government Offices to try and assist us, we are initially starting a campaign in which we would like to mobilise and inform each and every company of their responsibilities and also remind the Compensation Commissioner that we all have a voice and we are not happy at the treatment that is dished out.

On the same note though, if you have a compliment to pay the office of the Compensation Commissioner, send it in we would love to hear the successes as well.

We plan on taking all the evidence we have gathered and the information to the MEDIA and have the matter and situation resolved at the Compensation Commissioner's office. Please if you would like to take part, you can forward your mails or letters and problems to us at info@calcha.za.org, with the subject WCA CAMPAIGN we will keep all information confidential and will not mention any names, it is part of our confidentiality agreement, unless of course you would like us to mention you. In which case, you can request this.

It is high time that service delivery from a forced registration became a priority, esp as it costs companies millions in wasted time, effort and production. We do thank you for taking the time to read and be a part of something - hence our company slogan "CREATING UNDERSTANDING"

    Happy Greetings,

    Charmaine

The dance you have to go through to get a letter of good standing is certainly not good enough. But it's the penalties the WCC has been raising when it is their failures that have caused delays that is the biggest problem that needs addressing from on high.

Got plenty of hard proof of it too.
10% penalty for late submission when the return of earnings was submitted in good time.
10% penalty for late payment when the assessment was only posted by WCC after the due payment date.

And any idea of what happened to the no-claim bonuses?
It doesn't look like they're getting processed either (not that many will qualify according to their records given the processing issues above).

    Hi Dave,

Man, I sit here and read these posts and I feel like there is so much still to be done in the way of assisting companies and keeping every one informed and up to date on everything that is changing and happening.

I honestly feel that by embarking on this campaign, we will make a difference to people's lives. I have queries many times the Merit Rebate and why it has not been kept up, that can not be answered apparently.

We will not rest until the queries adn questions brought to us have been heard, understood and rectified, I hear you all to oud and clear regarding the penalties and interests that are charged...

This is battle worth taking on in our opinion. Thanks for your feedback.

    Charmaine

Charmaine, at least the end of their mischief is in sight. The online submission process means business in SA now has a pretty painless option to circumvent being unfairly inflicted with these penalties going forward.

But a campaign to reverse the penalties they have unfairly levied over the past years seems worth pursuing.

It's worth noting that the Auditor General gave the WCC a qualified audit because it had concerns about the value of penalties reported.

I have registered to do the returns online. Hard to believe, but it actually works well.

Takes a couple of minutes and you get your assessment - it really works!

    Hi nadib,

I am so glad to hear that you have managed to get sorted using the on line tool and yes it does work, very well at this point for those who are up to date and have not got previous issues. Thank you for the positive feedback
